On February 13, the Provincial Department of Science & Technology held a meeting to form a specialist review panel of major research projects for the 11th Five-Year-Plan Period. Nine professors from HDU (Pang Quan, Chen Guojin, Dai Guojun, Zhang Jianwu, Wang Yigang, Sun Lingling, Wan Jian, Yan Yi and Zhang Jianmin) were hired as members of the specialist review panel in the disciplines of seawater desalination & utilization, critical electromechanical equipment related technology, auto parts engineering, network and telecommunication technology & equipment, digital multimedia technology & application, software & IC, critical applied electronic technology & new electronic component, 1000kv power transmission technology & equipment and so on.

During the 11th Five-Year-Plan period, the Provincial Department of Science & Technology is to execute 26 major technological research projects. Professors from HDU are found on 8 specialist review panels for such projects, basically covering all engineering disciplines offered at HDU. Since the 10th Five-Year-Plan period, HDU teachers have rendered intellectual support and expertise to the economic and social development of Zhejiang Province. The inclusion of nine professors on the current specialist review team vindicates the high standard and stature of technological research undertakings at HDU.
