On February 27, CPC Central Committee and the State Council held the State S&T Award Meeting in Beijing, where award-winning persons and research programs for year 2006 were announced. Among others, the research program "laser online gas analyzing system" accomplished by HDU and the research program "full-integrated industrial automation system" jointly accomplished by HDU and Zhejiang University won the second prize of the 2006 State S&T Award.
Wang Jian, Director of Integration Technology Research Institute of HDU and the youngest of individual award winners at the meeting, led the task force for the research program "laser online gas analyzing system". This technological breakthrough came after 5 years of brainstorming. Of the 15 main performance indicators of the system, 10 surpass and 5 meet those of similar systems developed by multinational firms. For the first time ever, China has its proprietary sophisticated test apparatus in gas analysis and test.
Featuring Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (DLAS), the laser online gas analyzing system may measure such parameters as gas concentration, temperature and velocity in a non-contact and online manner. It may be extensively used in steel, petrochemical, power, building material, biopharmaceutical, microelectronic, environment monitoring, space & aviation, coal mining industries and so on, where it serves to optimize the production process, increase burning efficiency, achieve energy recycling and perform safety and environment monitoring. The system-based products also feature distributed optical fibre survey, simple construction, high precision, high reliability, quick response and easier maintenance. They are particularly suitable for working in high-temperature, powder-laden and high-corrosive environment as well as other extreme environment, hence remarkable performance advantage over traditional similar products.
The system-based products were put into production in end 2003 and by now it has come to be widely used in steel, petrochemical, coking, power, cement, space and environment protection industries. Also, they have started to sell to the US, UK, Japan and other countries, changing once for all the situation that domestic demand for sophisticated analyzing apparatuses has long been met by import, and marking a critical breakthrough in technological advance of the domestic analyzing apparatus industry.
Another technological achievement winning second prize of the State S&T Award at the meeting is "full-integrated industrial automation system". This technological achievement was a major result of lasting collaborative research effort by HDU (Professor Xue Anke in particular) and Zhejiang University. The system represents cutting-edge technology in terms of application of computer technology in automatic control, and matches the world's latest standard.
The "full-integrated industrial automation system" is a new-generation master control system integrating DCS, PLC, field bus, industrial network technology and industrial control software technology. In this system, process control, logic control and sequence control are integrated, achieving a loop control cycle of 100ms and logic control cycle of 5ms. In addition, multi-level active standby redundancy is provided in the system for the first time. From the system derives an IEC61131-3 compliant and FBD/LD/SFC/ST/IL compatible programming system, the first of its kind in China with proprietary intellectual property right. The intelligent modulating technology based on ingenious I/O modules enables point-to-point separation, universal input, free allocation and online rectification in I/O channels, meeting intricate industrial operation sites. Finally, from the system also derive the technologies of field bus data tapping and transparent network management.
